The mission of our Locust Grove Elementary School Environmental Club is to teach kids the importance of recycling, conservation, and protecting our environment for the future. We have participated in cleaning the school grounds and aluminum, paper, and plastic recycling projects. We also started a program of collecting the plastic bags that students use at breakfast, after we discovered the school was using hundreds of bags per day. Since then we have rescued thousands of bags from going to the landfill! Not only that, but our hope is that the students will take what they have learned and spread it to our community and instill the value of protecting our environment to others.
